Peter Brownson is recognised for his expertise in shoulder and elbow surgery. He is a member of the European Society for Shoulder and Elbow Surgery (SECEC), a corresponding member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Society (ASES) and an Honorary lifetime member of the Shoulder and Elbow Society, India (SESI).

In his clinical practice, Peter has treated a wide range of elite athletes including players from multiple premiership football teams. He was the upper limb surgeon to Liverpool Football Club from 2000 to 2017.

Peter served on the Council of the British Elbow and Shoulder Society (BESS) from 2012 to 2023, including a two-year term as President of the Society form 2017 to 2019. Peter is actively involved in clinical research and is a co-author of six sets of National (BOA/BESS) Care Pathways.
