Tim is an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Oxford University and an honorary Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Oxford University Hospitals. He has been looking after children and adults with orthopaedic conditions, including developmental dysplasia of the hip, musculoskeletal tumours, neuromuscular disorders and cerebral palsy. He is involved in the supervision of postgraduate degrees and the training of orthopaedic residents. He has an active academic interest, leading multi-centre clinical research studies in children’s orthopaedics and holding NIHR research grants. He is Emeritus Editor in Chief for Gait and Posture. He was a Board member of the British Society for Children’s Orthopaedic Surgery between 2009-2021 and its President between 2018-2020.

Tim has been involved in medico-legal work since 1993. He is experienced in providing expert medical opinion in clinical negligence cases involving his areas of specialist interest in musculoskeletal tumours in children, paediatric orthopaedic surgery, including DDH and slipped upper femoral epiphysis and surgery in cerebral palsy. He regularly writes reports on the condition and prognosis of children with cerebral palsy and other neuro-muscular disorders.

He writes approximately 120 reports per year, split between claimants (40%), defendants (30%) or joint (30%).
