Tom Quick is a clinical academic and surgeon specialising in brachial plexus and peripheral nerve injury. He is an Associate Professor at both Bristol University and University College London, Director of Research for the Peripheral Nerve Injury Research Unit, and Clinical Lead for peripheral nerve at the UCL Centre for Nerve Engineering. He works as an honorary Consultant Surgeon within the Bristol NHS Trusts and established the regionally commissioned South West Brachial Plexus Team. His qualifications include MA (Cantab.), MBBS, FRCS (Tr&Orth), MD(res) and FHEA, with specialist and fellowship training in orthopaedic, paediatric upper-limb and peripheral nerve surgery. After more than a decade at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, he relocated to Bristol in 2024 to establish a dedicated regional brachial plexus service, while also continuing private practice at Cleveland Clinic London.

His clinical and research work focuses solely on nerve injury repair, with particular expertise in Erb’s palsy and nerve injuries in children and adolescents. He is widely published and recognised internationally, and undertakes expert witness work only in nerve-injury-related cases. He serves as Chief Medical Officer for Bush & Co., maintains active medicolegal CPD, and sits on several professional committees. His practice is made up of 80% claimant and 20% defence instruction, producing over 150 reports annually. He has been cross-examined in courts across the UK and Ireland, where Counsel have noted his clarity and composure under questioning.
