Sylvia is a speech and language therapist with extensive and wide-ranging experience supporting individuals with complex neurological conditions, particularly acquired brain injury, across NHS, not-for-profit and her own clinical practice settings. Her career spans senior clinical, research, academic and leadership roles, including serving as Director of Research at Sensory Integration Education and contributing to national interdisciplinary working groups. She has led the development of national clinical standards for the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists in collaboration with NICE and continues to support clinical guidance development. She holds a PhD in Clinical Decision Making from King’s College London and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Widely recognised for her expertise and insight, she is regularly invited to present at national and international conferences and contributes to education, policy, and professional development across allied health professions.

Sylvia’s clinical practice is evidence-based, person-centred, and rooted in real-world needs, integrating research and practical expertise to deliver meaningful, tailored interventions. As an expert witness, she provides CPR Part 35–compliant assessments and reports in communication and swallowing disorders following brain injury for both claimant and defendant instructions. She is experienced in single and joint instructions, joint statements, and giving evidence in court, underpinned by Bond Solon expert witness training. Committed to ongoing clinical, academic, and medico-legal development, she brings clarity, rigour, and a thoughtful, balanced approach to all aspects of her work.
