Jane Stanbridge is a highly experienced Neurogenic Specialist Nurse, with over 30 years of expertise in Spinal Cord Injuries (SCI), Cauda Equina Syndrome (CES), and complex neurogenic bowel and bladder management. Having worked extensively at the National Spinal Injuries Centre (NSIC), she has supported both adults and children, helping them to achieve greater independence and improve quality of life through specialist assessment, education, and long-term management.

During her three decades at NSIC, Jane held various senior roles, including 15 years as a Peripatetic Nurse, supporting thousands of outpatients and their community teams through education and clinical advice. In 2015, she was appointed Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) in neurogenic bowel management, where she led on national education, developed trust-wide guidelines and competencies, and delivered specialist training. Alongside this, she completed her Diploma in Education and Training, enhancing her ability to educate both professionals and individuals affected by SCI.

In 2016, recognising the growing need for specialist education and consultancy, Jane founded JPEL Training Ltd, a company dedicated to delivering bespoke training, medico-legal assessments, and clinical consultancy to healthcare teams, individuals, and families. While her core expertise lies in SCI, Jane and her multidisciplinary team extend their services to individuals living with acquired/traumatic brain injury (ABI/TBI), cerebral palsy, and spina bifida. Her team includes trusted colleagues specialising in bladder management, tissue viability, sexuality, and other relevant areas.

In 2021, Jane made the difficult decision to step away from her NSIC role to focus fully on the growing demand for JPEL Training Ltd, combining clinical practice with education to improve care across multiple settings.

Jane has also been vice-chair of the Neurogenic Bowel Advisory Board, contributing to the revision of national guidelines based on the original MASCIP neurogenic bowel guidelines, and remains an active member of MASCIP, RCN, ACA, and ISCOS, contributing to

national and international developments in neurogenic care.

Jane has also contributed to international spinal injury projects, including working with the World Health Organization (WHO) in Ukraine to support the development of spinal cord injury services, and collaborating with Humanity & Inclusion (HI) to train UK Emergency Medical Teams (EMTs) for humanitarian responses. Additionally, she led a multidisciplinary team supporting the development of a spinal injuries unit at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (KCMC) in Tanzania, focusing on clinical training and peer support programmes.
